COMEÇANDO 2011.../ STARTING 2011...

Hello everyone!It's been a while since my last post, and that is why I was working a lot, teaching a lot and taking part on events as an interpreter/ translator. I attended some lectures too. Below I'll show you a couple of things I did.

[Faz um tempo desde meu último post, e isso é porque eu estava trabalhando bastante, dando muitas aulas e trabalhando em eventos como intérprete/ tradutor. Fui a palestras também. Abaixo, mostrarei um pouco das coisas que fiz.]

I taught a lot last year and I had wonderful experiences! Besides teaching English I got wonderful students. This was a gift from them.
[Lecionei muito ano passado, e tive experiências maravilhosas! Além de ensinar Inglês, tive alunos maravilhosos, isso foi um presentinho deles.]

I worked as an interpreter in the XX Pan Pharma Congress at Puc, May/June 2010. It was an excellent job among other interpreters I selected. I also helped the Indian delegation in many aspects related to the event such as location of plasma screens, Indian restaurants, general info about Porto Alegre.]

Também ajudei a delegação Indiana em muitos aspectos relacionados ao evento tais como, locação de monitores de plasma, restaurantes Indianos, informações sobre Porto Alegre]

The crew and I had pizza on the last day of the event.

I also followed some of the businessmen of the Pharma industry to Rio de Janeiro at the end of the event. They wanted to go sightseeing at RJ and see its incredible landscape and beaches. Attractions like the Sugar Loaf and Copacabana Beach were our destination!

[Também acompanhei alguns empresários da indústria farmacêutica ao Rio de Janeiro ao final do evento.Eles queriam conhecer o RJ e suas incríveis paisagens e praias. O Pão de açúcar e praia de Copacabana foram atrações que fizeram parte do nosso roteiro!]

TONGUE TWISTERS

Tongue twister is a sentence that is designed to be difficult to articulate. As tongue twisters are hard to be spoken fast, usually because of alliteration or a sequence of similar sounds, we must practice saying the sentence repeatedly to succeed.
It is funny to use such sentences in games for children, teens, or even adults as a spare-time activity or in classroom.

JORDIN SPARKS - "ONE STEP AT A TIME"

Jordin Brianna Sparks (December 22, 1989) is an American pop/R&B singer, songwriter who rose to fame as the winner of the sixth season of American Idol when she was only 17 years old, making her the youngest winner. She followed her American Idol victory with the release of her self-titled debut album in 2007. Sparks won an American Music Award in 2008 and received her first Grammy nomination in 2009.

"One Step at a Time", officially released in the U.S. on June 10, 2008, was the third single from the album "Jordin Sparks". The song peaked in the Top 20 on the Hot 100 and the Top 5 on the Pop 100 chart. She has been on many tv shows promoting this song. With the success of "One Step at a Time", Sparks became the first and only American Idol contestant ever to have their first four singles all crack the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Summary of lecture:

In our own day we have a very clear idea of the difference between town and country; indeed we are heirs of a whole bundle of intellectual concepts and prejudiced snobbery about one or the other.. Townies and bumpkins both go back a long way - to Roman times, in fact. Then too, town and country were easily distinguished, but not so in Anglo-Saxon England. With the collapse of the Roman empire - or rather, since yesterday I was proposing that the empire itself never died, with the collapse of the imperial economy, towns and cities as the Romans knew them disappeared from Britain. The empire had required a huge standing army and a huge bureaucracy to service it, and these were paid for by taxation; taxation paid in coin, not kind, just as the army was paid in coin, not kind. A monetary economy encouraged the growth of markets, indeed required them, and markets led to towns. Within the imperial economy, Britain appears to have been what we would call today a net exporter of produce. Coin flowed in to Britain, and the economy encouraged what academics call conspicuous consumption: the building of lavish villas, for example. When the imperial army was withdrawn from Britain, taxation and the export of supplies for the army ceased, and the flow of imperial coin dried up. Towns and cities as the Romano-British knew them ceased to exist.
